Mixed income level of housing in Journal Square, NJ _ teamH

Journal Square is a neighborhood classified by the presence, and often convergence, of extremely heterogeneous user groups - residents from different demographics and socio-economic classes and (as a regional transport hub) nearly 50,000 commuters a day. This proposal aims to incorporate the disparate elements of the surrounding neighborhood into a porous, multi-centric model, thus breaking down the dense centricity of the site’s original usage. The project argues that community-building and resident-oriented stewardship is the basis for successful housing and is designed to foster social interaction while preserving the specific needs of each user group.
